Hearthside Bounty
3/13/2010 - 3/13/2010
From 6:00pm to 9:00pm, travel the candlelit path to the Bullard Tavern, on the Common in the historical Village, to experience a fireside evening in a 19th-century Tavern, with dinner and entertainment from early New England characters. In addition to a bountiful repast, guests may enjoy beverages fashionable in early New England, hear tunes from an earlier time performed by a costumed interpreter, learn about period games and entertainment, and hear about table manners from the period, when it was not only polite, but necessary to eat from the knife. A reproduction 18th-century clock jack roasts beef "to a turn" in front of a roaring fire, and costumed interpreters demonstrate the preparation of delights such as pounded cheese and mulled cider. Would you care to help whip cream with a birch-twig whisk? Or you may choose instead just to enjoy the trifle that results...
The menu: Pounded Cheese Mulled Cider Gourd Soup Roast Prime Rib of Beef with Horseradish Cream Escalloped Potatoes Roasted Root Vegetables Trifle Coffee, Decaf Coffee, Tea Cash bar available, serving period and modern libations $54.95 per person; $49.95 for OSV Members. Prices include tax and gratuity.

Social networking and your business, with Rita Schiano at CBA meeting
3/26/2010 - 3/26/2010
7:15 a.m. 3/26/10 Oliver Wight Tavern, OSV Local businesses thinking about the place for social networking in their marketing and promotional recipe can get food for thought at the March 26 meeting of Community Business Associates. Guest speaker Rita M. Schiano of Sturbridge will bring her background in social media like Facebook and Twitter to the networking group’s 7:15 a.m. meeting at the Oliver Wight Tavern in Old Sturbridge Village. She provides editorial and marketing services to clients when not exercising her passion for fiction writing through novels and screenplays. Ms. Schiano has also been a Sturbridge restaurateur and professional musician. Many business people and professionals have eyed social media as communications opportunities and wondered about the time commitment and other resources required to get in the game, or whether these outlets are productive for what they do. Meetings conclude at 8:30 a.m. Interested business and professional people from the area are welcome to meetings on the second and fourth Fridays at the tavern, located just off the OSV visitor’s parking lot. There is no charge for guests.

CSI New England Murder Mystery Dinner Theater
7/23/2010 - 7/23/2010
With all the popularity of the CSI television shows, it’s time to find out some of the methods used by famous forensic scientists. We’ve scheduled a CSI symposium where the scientists will demonstrate and explain their methods using weapons and some key body parts. Unfortunately, you never know who might be murdered in the midst of a forensic demonstration surrounded by police. Join us for a night of fun, and help us solve the crimes you witness. You may even be a deputized CSI agent by the end of the night.
The food is great too! We’ll be serving tossed garden salad with creamy Italian dressing, rustic boneless breast of chicken with supreme sauce, seasonal potato and vegetable, homemade rolls and ice cream cakeballs with homemade hot fudge.
